Back & Sides Set - Macacauba (Platymiscium dimorphandrum)
Back and side set with 10 years of natural drying.
Density 950 kg/m³.
Macacauba, also known as hormigo, is a wood traditionally used in the construction of musical instruments. In Guatemala, it is especially valued for its use in marimba manufacturing, where its density and rigidity provide projection and definition to the sound.
As a tonewood, it stands out for its ideal density for musical instruments. It offers a clear response, with good projection and a distinctive character that sets it apart from more common woods.
Visually, it presents deep reddish tones, similar to mahogany but with greater vibrancy. Some pieces may show a more pronounced flame figure, providing additional aesthetic value.
